On April 30, 2010, the U.S. Postal
Service released special Animal
Rescue: Adopt a Shelter Pet
stamps in order to raise
awareness about the importance
of adopting from your local animal
shelter. The stamps will be .44*
and will feature both cats and
dogs. Also during the release of
the stamps, animal advocate Ellen
DeGeneres and Halo: Purely for
Pets will be donating a million
meals to animal shelters across
the U.S.

On Oct. 1st, 2009 a new license plate was made available to
Mainers.  The purchase and the renewal of this plate will
contribute $10 to Maine's Animal Welfare program.  $5 will go
towards cruelty investigations and the other half will go towards
the Help Fix Me low-cost spay/neuter fund.
