| P.A.L.S., which stands for Protectors of Animal Life Society, is a no-kill cat shelter that began in 1980 as a non-profit, charitable organization. No public funds support this organization. P.A.L.S. is supported by memberships, fund-raising, memorial gifts, donations, and bequests. P.A.L.S. living space consists of several rooms where the cats roam freely and have access to enclosed outdoor pens. P.A.L.S. has 80-100 cats at any given time. Your support is greatly needed. |
| At this point in time, P.A.L.S. IS accepting cats by appointment only. The reason for this is we have only so many cages in our "New Arrivals" room. Every cat that comes through our door has to be caged. Every cat has to be fixed, be current with their shots. This includes distemper and rabies. Every cat needs to be AIDS/Leukemia tested. They need to be checked for fleas, mites, be wormed, and we need to be sure there is no evidence of viral, bacterial, or fungal problems. Once a cat is cleared, vet checked, and had proper treatment, they can go into our "Big Room", which is one of our free-roam rooms. Because we are no-kill, we do not euthanize to make space. This is the main reason our cages fill up so fast. People have asked, "You're a cat shelter, don't you have to take in cats?" The answer is No. P.A.L.S. is a non-profit, private organization. We are not affiliated with any town and we do not receive state funding. We'd love to be able to take in every cat but the sad reality of it is, there are too many. There are more cats out there than there are homes. We just don't have the space for them or the funds to take them all in. If you are looking to surrender a cat, please do not use the email to contact us but instead call the shelter Monday through Friday during business hours and speak with the manager. Thank You. |
